12m Low Impact Cruising Catamaran
This 12m cruising catamaran design is based on our open offshore performance sailing catamaran BALBUZARD with an emphasis on reducing the ecological impact of the construction and use of such boat. The ECOCAT construction uses natural materials, which can be easily sourced on every continent, thus reducing the pollution caused by the transport of materials. We have also opted for an assembly of flat panels made of natural fibers in order to avoid the use of molds – which otherwise implies the single use of many consumables. The lightweight platform, with structural fittings, will be made entirely of natural materials. It also has been designed in order to optimise its optional dual electric propulsion acting also as an hydro-generator. All weights are centered within a dedicated technical compartment at midship under the living areas.
Kit plans, digital drawings and cutting files are available upon request for amateur home construction or independant professional shipyards.
